Semantic MediaWiki (SMW) is an extension of MediaWiki.

Semantic MediaWiki helps to search, organise, tag, browse, evaluate, and share the content of this Wikibox. Whereas the knowledge contents of traditional wikis consist of mainly text, illustrated by images, which computers can neither understand nor evaluate, with SMW semantic properties can be added that allow the wiki to function as a database as well.

On www.oscarvandillen.com Semantic MediaWiki is used for both text and images, e.g. linking whiteboards to music related content with precisely defined semantic properties.
